Cara Mckinnon Crawford is one of Scotland’s most established artists. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, her bold, but sensitive mastery of oil paint result in beautiful interpretations of some of the country’s most iconic land and seascapes.

Cara travels the length and breadth of the country to lesser known corners, from Dunnet Head in the far North, Wester and Easter Ross, Ardnamurchan and many of the Scottish islands; Colonsay, Jura, Mull, Gigha, Islay, Iona and Skye to name but a few. Cara searches for unique and individual compositions, which in turn lead to the dramatic and atmospheric paintings, with which she is associated. Glasgow and Edinburgh, including other Scottish cities and the flora and fauna that Cara encounters on her travels, also become her inspiration.

Much of Cara's work is painted on location, applying the paint directly onto the canvas. Cara’s paintings are spontaneous, energetic and uniquely evocative, demonstrating her deep connection to Scotland, capturing all it’s mystical diversity.

Cara's work is exhibited globally and sells worldwide and although Cara describes Scotland as “Her Canvas” and her first love, she also travels to the Mediterranean countries of France, Italy, Spain and Greece, producing canvases full of light and colour. Russia has also been a country that has provided a source for Cara’s work, representing Glasgow City Council as Artist in Residence and subsequently staging an exhibition in Glasgow’s twinned city of Rostov-on –Don.
